Dr. Hari Om
A multifaceted Indian writer and musician whose creative journey brings together literature, music and public service.
A 1997-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, he has built a distinctive identity beyond administration through Hindi literature, contemporary storytelling, poetry and the musical tradition of ghazal.

Born in Katari village in Amethi, Dr. Hari Om grew up close to the experiences, traditions and cultural expressions of rural India. His writing encompasses short stories, poetry, ghazals and travel literature.

Serving in the Indian Administrative Service since 1997, Dr. Hari Om has held significant administrative responsibilities in Uttar Pradesh, including appointments as District Magistrate in several districts.
As of October 2026, he serves as Principal Secretary in the Government of Uttar Pradesh’s Vocational Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Department.
